I have tried to see the amusing side of it, the unique situation I am in, where I am on the front page of a newspaper, but because everyone loves me, and will be sad to see me go. However, being the center of this, with my face splashed over newspapers and being on CTV prime time news, being contacted by phone/email/facebook/clinic email/clinic phone all hours of the day and night, it is definitely stressing me out. Vets are hard to come by, if they are allowed to work then let them work! I would have signed the petition if my name wasn't on it! Maybe as vets, if we had more support, more relief help, we wouldn't be so over-worked and close to burnout all the time. In no way do I disagree with the sentiment. In all honesty, I am happy to help the cause. So now, with journalists twisting the news, and with the politicians using it to further their support in the upcoming elections, I am now being held as an example why Bill 96 and the French language laws are so idiotic. She had assumed the reason I was no longer doing Equine to be because of the language, even though this was but a small part of it. Unfortunately, she had misunderstood the situation a little. One of my clients set up a petition and went crazy over social media thinking that in some way she could help to ensure I kept my Quebec license. I've also become famous in the last few weeks: I'm not saying I wouldn't go back to doing Equine work, but definitely not at the same service, and definitely not for a while. Except for a few tensions at work, it is 100% better. It is the end of any on call work, the end of crazy driving distances and no longer being called for everything and anything.

I started doing full time small animal work and its so much better: Its a regular schedule with increased surgery time. 6 months after giving notice, I was FINALLY able to stop doing a job that was no longer giving me joy! May was also the start of a whole new life for me.Īpril 30th was my LAST day doing large animal mobile veterinary work.
I should warn you that these chickens are destined for the freezer, so don't get too attached to the cute little fuzzballs you'll see in the photos to come next time! We are in the process of readying the chicken house for them, to continue their growth and give them more space to run and play. The other, which was always more mobile, is still doing well, even with only 1 leg to stand on! They have now started to develop wing feathers and are getting more and more mobile, hopping out of their box easily. One of these slightly deformed chickens didn't make it, even after extreme TLC after being fostered with one of my technicians from work. We had 2 eggs at the end which were struggling to hatch, we helped them out but figured they had leg deformities (hence why they weren't able to break out of the eggs). Only verified info is posted and the pages get regularly updated.As they hatched, we were happy to see how quickly they got up on their feet and progressed.
